20-W ultraviolet-beam generation by fourth-harmonic generation of an all-solid-state laser

Abstract: We have obtained UV power of 20.5 W with a repetition rate of 10 kHz by the use of a high-brightness high-power all-solid-state green laser and a high-quality CsLiB(6)O(10) crystal. This power is, to our knowledge, the highest UV power achieved so far in all-solid-state lasers.

“…For the design of a frequency doubler, many nonlinear optical (NLO) crystals have been applied in the experimental studies (Lin et al 2012;Bhandari et al 2012;Zhang et al 2009;Gün et al 2011), including β -BaB 2 O 4 (BBO), CsLiB 6 O 10 (CLBO) and KBeBO 3 F 2 (KBBF). Yet more than 20 W 266 nm DUV power at high-repetition-rate was obtained by a CLBO crystal since 2000 (Kojima et al 2000;Sakuma et al 2004;Wang et al 2006). In particular, KBBF has the better optical performances on the cut-off wavelength.…”

“…T. Kojima et al [3] presented a 20.5 W UV beam generation by fourth-harmonic generation with a 106 W green laser at the pulse repetition rate of 10 kHz, and the pulse duration was 46 ns. The CsLiB 6 O 10 (CLBO) crystal was used in the experiment.…”

“…At present, both at home and abroad, researches of the LD-pumped 355 nm lasers are mainly carried out on the continuous or high repetition rate quasi-continuous wave UV lasers [1][2][3][4][5][6][7], which focusing on improving the average output power of UV laser, and the peak power is only a few to tens of kW. As far as we know, few work are reported on the UV pulse laser at 355 nm with a pulse width less than 10 ns and a peak power at megawatt level.…”
