2 in 1 leakey coaxial cable for intrusion detection sensor

Abstract: Novel leaky coaxial cable (LCX) is developed. It contains both transmitting and receiving LCX for intrusion detection sensor. While the suppression of coupling between transmitter and receiver is major theme in microwave technology, we give a solution of transmitter and receiver antenna combination. We have developed a prototype of 2 in 1 LCX and then evaluated its performance for intrusion detection sensor in field experimentation.

“…The parameters of the LCX sensor are defined as follows: the dielectric constant of the insulation medium is 1.247, dielectric loss angle tangent is 1.7e-5 and the pitch is 1 m. According to the classification method of LCX's working modes theory, 12 the LCX is in the radiation mode when the frequency is higher than 142 MHz, or the LCX is in the coupling mode when the frequency is lower than 142 MHz. Figure 3 shows the human intruder model and the propagation characteristics of electric field (E-field) when the frequency is 100 MHz.…”

“…In fact, most research is using IQ-demodulated method for obtaining the phase information of the echo signal. [10][11][12] However, instead of the phase, more attention is paid to the amplitude of the synchronous subtraction for locating the intruder in this article. On the basis of the amplitude stability of the V IQ , the effects of the intruder positioning are evaluated at 40, 100, and 200 MHz separately according to the time delay, and the method of improving the positioning error is further studied.…”

“…The intrusion detection system (IDS) using LCX sensor has many advantages, LCX sensor can be hidden under the ground easily without changing the appearance of the environment, it is also an all‐weather sensor for IDS. Intruder detection system based on LCX sensor can achieve the location and detection by observing the disturbance of electromagnetic field when intruder steps in the warning area …”

“…Intruder detection system based on LCX sensor can achieve the location and detection by observing the disturbance of electromagnetic field when intruder steps in the warning area. 10,11 However, on one hand, few studies have been done on the evaluation of LCX for detection systems comprehensively, further studies are still necessary to evaluate the coupling loss of LCX, we propose a method to analysis the coupling loss of LCX in rotary, horizontal, vertical and radial, respectively. It is hoped that the question will be resolved with the proposed method.…”
