2-Aminophenol and 4-Aminophenol Toxicity in Renal Slices From Sprague-Dawley and Fischer 344 Rats

Abstract: This study examined differences in toxicity between 2- and 4-aminophenol using a renal cortical slice model. Renal cortical slice toxicity for 2- and 4-aminophenol was also monitored in tissue from Sprague-Dawley and Fischer 344 (F344) rats in order to determine potential strain differences for aminophenol toxicity. Renal cortical slices from Sprague-Dawley and F344 rats (age 50-65 d) were isolated and incubated for 15-120 min with 0-1 mM 2- or 4-aminophenol at 37 degrees C under an oxygen atmosphere. Elevatio… Show more

“…Moreover, these authors recorded higher blood serum concentrations of LDH and ALP in cows with subclinical mastitis compared to healthy ones. Most of the cells contain LDH, and when these cells are lethally injured, the loss of membrane integrity can be assessed by monitoring the activity of LDH [54]. Our results indicate that the concentration of LDH in blood serum shows a positive correlation with the concentration of LDH in milk, as well as the total protein and SCC in milk, while a negative correlation was found with the lactose in milk.…”

“…[8]). In general, 4-aminophenols appear to be more potent nephrotoxicants than 2-aminophenols [8,14,26]. However, comparative studies examining the effect of chloro groups on 4-AP nephrotoxicity in vitro are limited to a comparison of 4-AP and 4-amino-3-chlorophenol (4-A3CP) in rat renal cortical slices [8,27].…”
