2,7‐Diazapyrene and its Bis(N‐methyl) Quaternary Salt

Abstract: 2.7-Diazapyrene (4), which was recently synthesized (21 for the first time and by a theoretically interesting route, together with its bis(N-methy1)quaternary salt ( 5 ) were required for a study of the redox behavior of quaternary polynuclear heteroaromatic compounds [I]. We now report a synthesis giving good yields of both compounds.
