2,5‐Dimethylfuran/Acrylonitrile as Latent Monomer for Sequence‐Controlled Copolymer and Sequence‐Dependent Thermo‐Responsivity

Abstract: Sequence control has attracted increasing attention for its ability of regulating polymer property and performance. Herein, the sequence‐controlled polymer containing acrylonitrile (AN) is achieved by using 2,5‐dimethylfuran/acrylonitrile adduct as a latent monomer. The temperature‐dependent retro Diels–Alder reaction is engaged in controlling the release of AN during RAFT polymerization, that is, regulating the instant AN concentration via a non‐invasive and in situ manner. Such control over the instant AN co… Show more

“…The composition relationships for copolymers were derived by early workers as follows 36,37 F1=r1f12+f11f1r1f12+2f11f1+r2()1goodbreak−f12 where F 1 is the molar fraction of monomer 1 in copolymers, f 1 is the molar fraction of monomer 1 in the feed monomers, and r 1 and r 2 are the reactivity ratios of monomer 1 and monomer 2, respectively.…”

“…The copolymer chain stiffness depends on the chemical structure and the condensed matter structure of the copolymer determined by the monomer molecular structure and the monomer sequence distribution in the copolymer backbones. Precise modulating the sequence structure and exploring the relationship between condensed matter structure and properties were essential for perfluorinated copolymers 36,40,41 . The glass transition temperatures ( T g ) of PDD‐TFE copolymers with different compositions are shown in Figure 5.…”
