1S0 nucleon-nucleon scattering in the modified Weinberg approach

Abstract: Nucleon-nucleon scattering in the 1 S 0 partial wave is considered in chiral effective field theory within the renormalizable formulation of Ref.[1] beyond the leading-order approximation. By applying subtractive renormalization, the subleading contact interaction in this channel is taken into account non-perturbatively. For a proper choice of renormalization conditions, the predicted energy dependence of the phase shift and the coefficients in the effective range expansion are found to be in a good agreement … Show more

“…The OPEP is, however, singular at the origin and requires regularization and renormalization. Therefore, instead of using the quantum mechanical approach, we formulate the LET within the modified Weinberg approach of chiral EFT [17,24,33,34]. Since the correlations between the effective range expansion parameters are inherently long-range phenomena, the results after renormalization and removing the ultraviolet cutoff should be model and regularization-scheme independent.…”

“…In Refs. [1,3] we formulated an approach to estimate truncation errors, that is the theoretical uncertainty due to neglected contributions from higher orders of the chiral expansion. This novel approach was justified for the case of R = 0.9 fm in the Bayesian analysis of Ref.…”

“…[1,2] have been tested in elastic Nd scattering and in radiative pd capture. For both processes, the new forces show very promising behavior (reasonable values of observables, good convergence with respect to the chiral order and weak cut-off dependence).…”
