16-LB: N-Hydroxylethyl-1-Deoxynojirimycin (Miglitol) Infusion Rescues the Sympathoadrenal Response to Hypoglycemia following Antecedent Hypoglycemia in Rats
Abstract:Antecedent hypoglycemia leads to a blunting of the sympathoadrenal response during subsequent hypoglycemia, which can largely be prevented by normalizing portal-mesenteric vein (PMV) glycemia during the antecedent bout. As SGLT3 has recently been implicated in PMV glucosensing, we hypothesized that PMV infusion of the imino sugar N-hydroxylethyl-1-deoxynojirimycin (miglitol), a potent SGLT3 agonist, during hypoglycemia would prevent or rescue the sympathoadrenal response to subsequent hypoglycemia.

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
