10μm pitch design ofHgCdTediode array in Sofradir

Abstract: Sofradir recently presented Daphnis, its latest 10µm pitch XGA and HD720 products. Daphnis XGA is a 10µm pitch 1024x768 mid-wave infrared focal plane array. The development of small pixel pitch is opening the way to very compact products with high spatial resolution. This new product is key contribution to the HOT technology competition allowing reductions in size, weight and power of the overall package. This paper presents the recent developments achieved at Sofradir to make this 10µm pitch HgCdTe focal plan… Show more

“…Second, this process is challenging for small pixel pitches. Existing cameras have a 15 μm pitch, and the trend is to reduce this size by approximately 10 μm . This value is considerably larger than that achieved for CMOS visible sensors, for which pixel pitches of 2 μm are commonly used.…”

“…The FPA has been optimized to reduce crosstalk and increase MTF values at Nyquist frequency [8]. Figure 7 presents the MTF for three different devices named A, B and C. Device A represents the standard technology and device B is the geometrically optimized diode for dark current reduction, while Device C illustrates the latest development where all parameters of the design are optimized to achieve the best MTF without degrading the other FOM.…”

“…Following the path used for 10µm pitch II-VI technology [11], consisting in maximising collection volume and minimizing diffusion volume, while maintaining high quantum efficiency and low temporal and spatial noise, outstanding MTF performances have been obtained for II-VI SXGA FPA as illustrated below. In good agreement with previous projections [12], MTF around 0.5 at Nyquist Frequency has been obtained on optimized photodiode design.…”
