10Gbps Length adaptive on-chip RF serial link for Network on Chips and Multiprocessor chips applications

Abstract: This paper introduces the use of duo-binary modulation for a 10-Gbps RF on-chip long range serial link. RF signaling is used to reduce the delay so that a 5 mm line is crossed in less than 50 ps. Furthermore, the duo-binary approach is used to reach higher bandwidth efficiency since this modulation uses a two-time smaller bandwidth for the transmission. The RF design complexity is also reduced thanks to duo-binary modulation.
