A rigorous evaluation of an artifact is one of the fundamental aspects to be considered in Design Science Research projects. This evaluation part becomes even more difficult when a large variety of artifacts must be designed for a project. This can be a challenge for the field of Collaborative Networks, which involves knowledge from several scientific disciplines. Case studies are one of the evaluation methods in Design Science Research that are used for an ex-post evaluation of artifacts. However, we argue that this method can also be used for the ex-ante evaluation, mainly when multidisciplinary research is being carried out. Therefore, the main objective of this paper is to present and discuss a multidisciplinary project of Collaborative Networks using case studies before and after the design of the artifacts. On top of the Design Science Research guidelines, this research is supported by knowledge from Business and Management Studies on how to effectively design and perform Case Study Research for artifact evaluation.

More than 95 percent of all the businesses around the globe are small-and medium-sized (International Organization for Standardization [ISO], 2016). However, the limited resources of small businesses represent a difficulty in implementing a quality management system (QMS) complied with ISO 9001:2015, which is many times demanded by the supply chain of these companies. The object of this research was to develop an artifact, named e-Qualifácil, to access the current stage of the small business' QMS. Using the Design Science Research method, the artifact was built considering the seven guidelines of the Design Science and the five phases of research applied to development cycles of artifacts. e-Qualifácil was tested in three small businesses of discrete manufacturing. For each business, the artifact generated a prioritized list of activities that together represent an action plan for the adequacy of business' process to the requirements of the ISO 9001 standard. In addition, the application process of the artifact pointed out the lack of leadership in planning, formalization and control of quality processes, and technical processes in general. Design Science Research showed up as a good option to include rigor in organizational interventions and a practical tool to strengthening knowledge dissemination.

O presente trabalho apresenta as possibilidades de uso de tecnologias de fabricação digital no Design de Superfície em produtos de moda, demonstrando como essas tecnologias podem contribuir para o envolvimento do usuário nos processos de criação e de produção. Mais especificamente, o foco deste artigo são os usos da fabricação digital para a personalização de produtos e para a fabricação pessoal, em um contexto de produção distribuída. O método de pesquisa adotado é a revisão bibliográfica assistemática e sistemática, tendo sido consultadas três bases de dados, repositórios online de sete periódicos nacionais, assim como livros, artigos publicados em anais de eventos, sites e blogs especializados. Como resultado, são apresentados alguns exemplos de uso de tecnologias de fabricação digital no Design de Superfície de produtos de moda, discutindo as possibilidades e limitações das tecnologias atuais para o fomento de um cenário de produção distribuída.
