“…Most studies on 3D LAV have also reported on 3D maximum LAV (max LAV), 3D minimum LAV, and 3D pre-A LAV with their indexed values for LA function assessment. Generally, 3D LAV and LAVI showed similar trends to those for 2DE, namely that 3D max LAVIs were similar for both genders in spite of 3D max LAV for males being larger before indexation and not associated with age [26,31,32,55,57,58]. Some studies showed discrepant results.…”

“…Recently, the WASE Normal Values study used a uniformed measurement protocol to examine in two core laboratories data for over 2000 normal subjects enrolled worldwide, and found only minor differences for LV size among races and countries, although the normal reference values recommended in the current guidelines need to be adjusted [15]. Regarding 3DE, the current guidelines recommend normal values for 3D LV volumes on the basis of three studies published a decade ago [24][25][26], although several studies have reported that normal reference values for LV volumes were different in a variety of countries and regions [27][28][29][30][31][32] (Table 1). According to most of these publications, 3D LV volumes were larger than 2D LV volumes, as well as larger for males than for females even after indexing to BSA, while they decreased with age for both genders.…”

“…Factors affecting the endocardium are associated with LV hyperrotation; if the epicardium is affected, LV hyporotation could be detected. Normal reference values of LV rotational parameters are available as well (5,8,(25)(26)(27)(28).…”

“…2D GLS of -22.5 ± 2.7% was considered normal [8]. Normal 3D values considered were: GLS − 21.0 ± 2.6%, GCS − 30.3 ± 4.0%, GRS 43.2 ± 4.5 [9] [10].…”
