Degree of Agreement between Cardiovascular Risk Stratification Tools

Abstract: BackgroundCardiovascular disease (CVD) is the leading cause of morbidity and mortality in Brazil, and primary prevention care may be guided by risk stratification tools. The Framingham (FRS) and QRISK-2 (QRS) risk scores estimate 10-year overall cardiovascular risk in asymptomatic individuals, but the instrument of choice may lead to different therapeutic strategies.ObjectiveTo evaluate the degree of agreement between FRS and QRS in 10-year overall cardiovascular risk stratification in disease-free individuals… Show more

“…10,19,23 This result can be explained by the characteristics of the sample, composed of patients attending a tertiary university hospital, which treats patients with more complex needs. 24 In addition, the high prevalence of the cardiovascular risk factors [25][26][27] hypertension (47.1%), DM (27.5%) -as well as overweight and obesity (78.5%) which was higher than that observed in the Brazilian (18.9%) and North American (33.8%) populations, 28,29 in the sample may also have influenced this result.…”
