The effect of quercetin on cerulein-induced acute pancreatitis

Abstract: OBJECTIVE:The aim of this study was to evaluate the protective and therapeutic effects of quercetin on pancreatic injury in cerulein-induced acute pancreatitis. METHOD: Thirty-two rats were randomly divided into four groups, eight per group: (CT): untreated controls, (CER) treated with cerulein, 50 μg/kg body weight; (Q+CER) pre-treatment with quercetin, 100 mg/kg body weight, followed by cerulein, 50 μg/kg; (CER+Q) post-treatment, cerulein followed by quercetin, same doses. Cerulein was divided into four dose… Show more

“…Our findings further support recent studies with similar results on the effects of apigenin in the pancreas (28,44). In the last decade, further support for the beneficial role of flavones in pancreatitis has been provided by studies on the effects of scutellarin (45,46).…”

“…The present work is based on caerulein induced AP model in C57Bl/6 mice, pre-treated with 3 days of hydrogen-rich gases before the first injection of the modeling, and further demonstrated the good protective effect of hydrogen on AP. Oxidative stress is a factor involved in the pathogenesis of AP, although the specific mechanism remains controversial [ 19 , 20 ]. Therefore, pancreatic GSH and MDA which indicate the redox status and the oxidative damage in pancreatic tissues were also observed.…”
