RESUMOO mercado de produtos de higiene pessoal, incluindo os cosméticos, apresentou crescimento de 4,5 % ao ano, nos últimos 20 anos e é o 3º mercado global em lançamentos de produtos, por ano. Esse crescimento deve-se a busca contínua pela manutenção de uma aparência jovem, bonita e saudável. O objetivo do presente estudo consiste em retratar o cenário da propriedade industrial relacionada aos cosméticos, mais especificamente patentes, apresentando as principais empresas depositantes, o quantitativo de pedidos de patentes, os países envolvidos e principais proteções. A base de dados Orbit Intelligence® foi empregada para realização das buscas de patentes. Os resultados observados deixam evidente o domínio das multinacionais, sem presença de empresas brasileira, porém, o país é destino de pedidos de patentes, acreditando-se a isso o fato de apresentar grande mercado consumidor. The Advancement of Virtual Reality in Automotive Market Research: Challenges and Opportunities

Virtual reality (VR) can play a key role in automotive marketing research, lowering costs and shortening the time it takes to bring a new product to market. However, there are still few VR applications that support automotive customers' experiences during the early stages of product development. Through a systematic review of literature and patents, this study aims to identify the challenges and opportunities for the application of virtual reality in car clinics, and to categorize them into attributes. We searched through the knowledge databases of PatentScout, ScienceDirect, Springer, and IEEEXplore. We found 72 patents with a high concentration in a few inventors. The United States of America presented the greatest number of records and the most common applications related to the apparatus for automatically reading respondents' reactions in a virtual environment. In terms of articles, we found 19 research papers that discussed sixteen categories identified as challenges and opportunities for automotive marketing research: 1) cost, 2) location to customers, 3) flexibility in interactions, 4) model transportation, 5) depth perception, 6) haptic perception, 7) motion, 8) movement perception/ physical collision, 9) color and texture, 10) sound feedback, 11) product interaction/manipulation, 12) visual-spatial, 13) graphic quality, 14) intuitiveness, 15) cybersecurity and 16) cybersickness. We conclude that the automotive industry can employ virtual reality for marketing research, but relevant elements such as hardware and software definition, stimulus quality, and research objectives, among others, must be considered.

Patent prospecting is currently considered an indispensable tool for the knowledge of the technological level in which a certain scientific research is found, since much of the technological information made available in the world is disclosed in the form of patent documents. Thus, this article aimed to conduct a study of patent technological prospecting on the use of Humulus lupulus (hops), a plant of great commercial and industrial interest, with a wide range of chemical and pharmacological applications. Prospecting was carried out in two freely accessible databases. In INPI, the countries that filed the most patents were the Brazil, United Kingdom, Netherlands and Japan, respectively, while in the EPO, China dominated the deposits. When comparing the profiles of depositors from the two databases, it was possible to observe that in INPI companies have mastered the technique, while in EPO deposits from educational institutions are practically equivalent to that of companies. The results also showed that, although hops is a plant consisting of chemical substances with broad pharmacological properties, the patents filed by Brazil can still be extended, which is a potential field for future research. A prospecção de patentes é considerada hoje como uma ferramenta indispensável para o conhecimento do nível tecnológico em que se encontra determinada pesquisa científica, pois grande parte da informação tecnológica disponibilizada no mundo é divulgada sob a forma de documentos de patente. Dessa forma, o presente artigo teve como objetivo realizar um estudo de prospecção tecnológica de patentes sobre o uso do Humulus lupulus, uma planta de grande interesse comercial e industrial e que apresenta uma ampla gama de aplicações químicas e farmacológicas. A prospecção foi realizada em duas bases de dados de livre acesso. No INPI os países que mais depositaram patentes foram Brasil, Reino Unido, Holanda e Japão, respectivamente, já na EPO a China dominou majoritariamente os depósitos. Ao comparar os perfis dos depositantes das duas bases de dados, foi possível observar que no INPI quem tem mais registro de patentes são as empresas, enquanto que na EPO os depósitos de patentes oriundos das instituições de ensino são praticamente equivalentes ao das empresas. Os resultados também demonstraram que embora o lúpulo seja uma planta composta por substâncias químicas com amplas propriedades farmacológicas, as patentes depositadas pelo Brasil ainda podem ser ampliadas, sendo este então um campo potencial para futuras pesquisas.
