“…The thin line and overlapping characteristics to describe cellular reactions (i.e., atypia), cellular adaptations (i.e., hyperplasia and metaplasia) and preneoplastic lesions (i.e., dysplasia) complicates the molecular and histological classification of pterygium as a benign or potentially preneoplastic lesion.
