Changes in anterior chamber eye during accommodation as assessed using a Dual Scheimpflug system

Abstract: Purpose: To study the changes in anterior chamber depth (ACD), anterior chamber angle (ACA), and pupil diameter (PD) during accommodation. Methods: Eighty eyes of 80 subjects, aged 22 to 40 years, were included. The rotating Dual Scheimpflug and a Placido disc system (Galilei G4, Ziemer Ophthalmic Systems AG, Switzerland) was used to measure the changes in ACD, ACA, and PD during accommodation. ACD measurement was taken for the central zone and for 4 more positions, each in different orientation (nasal, superi… Show more

“…However, temporal ACA, inferior ACA, trabecular ciliary process distance and anterior chamber depth (ACD) were not affected. In Dominiguez-Vicent et al study [ 25 ], they found no significant ACD change during accommodation using Dual Scheimpflug and a Placido disc. However, the ACA, at the superior, temporal and inferior positions, varied significantly during accommodation.…”

“…During the process of accommodation, the ciliary body, crystalline lens, and iris change actively, resulting in an increase in lens power [16]. This may be associated with an increase in the anterior curvature of the lens [17][18][19][20].…”

“…The ACD did not show significant difference with accommodation in emmetropic subjects in the study by Dominguez-Vicent et al . 34, 35 . The OA-2000 and Lenstar use similar light spot for focusing and automatically measure along the visual axis, which reduces the accommodation influence.…”
