Synthesis and microstructure studies of nano-sized cerium phosphates

Abstract: KEYWORDSCerium phosphate, CePO4, nanoparticles with hexagonal or monoclinic phase was synthesized by the reaction between Ce(SO4)2.4H2O and two different phosphate sources, H3PO4 and Na2HPO4. The obtained gel was dried and calcined at different temperatures (200, 400, and 800 о C). The effects of the precursor materials and the calcination temperatures on the produced phases were studied. Both X-ray diffraction (XRD) and infrared spectroscopy (IR) were used to follow the changes in the phase structure for the … Show more

“…The substitution with cerium produced the exothermic peaks at the range from 260˚C to 330˚C (Figures 1(b)-(f)). These peaks were related with the reduction of cerium cation [15]. Figure 2 shows TG curves of samples prepared in various Ni/Ce ratios.…”

“…The broad peak at 3196 cm −1 is assigned to -OH stretching vibrations and the peak at 1633 cm −1 is attributed to -OH bending vibrations of water molecule [26]. The bands around 992 cm −1 and 513 cm −1 correspond to P-O stretching and O-P-O bending mode of vibration, respectively [21].…”

“…The precipitation of amorphous cerium phosphate was reported by Hanna et al [21]. According to this procedure, the stoichiometric amount of Ce(SO 4 ) 2 •4H 2 O and K 2 HPO 4 was dissolved in deionized water and equimolar (0.012 mol L −1 ) solutions of Ce(SO 4 ) 2 •4H 2 O and K 2 HPO 4 were prepared separately.…”

“…S with excellent u ect are needed been paid to the l applications fo t al. [16] were obtained by using Brukur D8 advanced X-ray diffractometer with copper (Kα) radiation. Infrared measurements (IR) were recorded by JASCO-FT/CR-3000E infrared spectrophotometer in range from 4000 to 400 cm -1 and the thermal analysis was performed by USA Perkin-Elmer thermogravimetric up to 1000 о C with heating rate 10 о C/min.…”
