Influência dos treinamentos funcional e tradicional na potência muscular, qualidade de movimento e qualidade de vida em idosas: um ensaio clínico randomizado e controlado

Abstract: -Aging causes a reduction in the adaptive capacity of the organism. Therefore, there is a decrease in physical fitness, making it difficult to perform basic movements and the development of muscular power. Thus, to minimize this reduction, functional and traditional training can both be used; however there is no clarity about which is most effective. The aim of this study was to identify the influence of functional and traditional training on muscle power, quality of movement and quality of life in the elderly… Show more

“…The authors reported that functional training enabled more comprehensive adaptations, integrating a greater variety of physical abilities compared to the traditional model. Furthermore, in older adults, Brandão et al (2017) and Chaves et al (2017) observed greater multicomponent adaptations with functional training compared to traditional training. Therefore, functional training seems to be a viable alternative to the traditional strength training model when the final goal is the concomitant improvement of different physical abilities.…”

“…The studies developed in (Branco et al, 2015;Cesário et al, 2014;Chaves et al, 2017;Gomes et al, 2015;Mallmann et al, 2015;Oliveira et al, 2016;Preto et al, 2016;Silva, Pin, & Silva Filho, 2015;Teixeira et al, 2016;Vagetti et al, 2015;Victor et al, 2014) presented scientific evidences about educational actions in health for older adults' health promotion. Some papers were selected, in which quality of life and promotion of healthy aging as resulting factors of strategies in education in health were perceived.…”

“…Many physical and psychosocial benefits resulting from the regular practice of physical activity are reported in the literature (Cesário et al, 2014;Chaves et al, 2017;Preto et al, 2016;Silva, Pin, & Silva Filho, 2015;Teixeira et al, 2016;Vagetti et al, 2015). These include: (i) increased muscle strength, (ii) improved cardiorespiratory capacity, (iii) fat reduction, (iv) increased bone density, (v) improved mood and self-esteem and (vi) the reduction of anxiety and depression.…”

“…O processo de envelhecimento está associado a mudanças importantes em vários sistemas fisiológicos e com a capacidade de desencadear alterações na aptidão funcional em diversas tarefas de movimento. Consequentemente, aspectos relacionados à diminuição de força muscular, alterações de equilíbrio postural e de coordenação motora podem ser de tal magnitude a ponto de impactar negativamente a vida cotidiana dessa população [1][2][3].…”
