The study was developed in Nova Maringá -MT. The objectives of this work were to evaluate the sawn timber yield, the use of wood residues and the quantification of products for the species Qualea paraensis (cambará) and Erisma uncinatum (cedrinho) in three diametric classes: Class A -40.0 to 49.9 cm; Class B -50.0 to 59.9 cm; Class C -60.0 to 69.9 cm. Four replicates per class were evaluated, totaling 12 logs per species of varied lengths. The sawn timber yield did not show a statistical difference between diametric classes for both species. Average yield for Qualea paraensis was equal to 43.97% and for Erisma uncinatum, 42.05%. The residues use increased the total yield in 4.40% and 6.52% for Qualea paraensis and Erisma uncinatum, respectively. For Erisma uncinatum, the sawed products with the highest production were the board in the primary unfolding and the short board in the residues use. As for Qualea paraensis, there was more production of rafters and short battens in the same processes. Produção de madeira serrada e utilização de resíduos de Qualea paraensis Ducke e Erisma uncinatum quente. O estudo foi desenvolvido no município de Nova Maringá -MT e os objetivos foram avaliar o rendimento em madeira serrada, o aproveitamento dos resíduos madeireiros e a quantificação dos produtos serrados produzidos para as espécies Qualea paraensis (cambará) e Erisma uncinatum (cedrinho) em três classes diamétricas: Classe A -40,0 a 49,9 cm; Classe B -50,0 a 59,9 cm; Classe C -60,0 a 69,9 cm, com quatro repetições por classe, totalizando 12 toras por espécie de comprimentos variados. O rendimento em madeira serrada não apresentou diferença estatística entre classes diamétricas para as duas espécies, sendo o rendimento médio para a Qualea paraensis igual à 43,97% e para a Erisma uncinatum igual à 42,05%. O aproveitamento dos resíduos aumentou em 4,40% e 6,52% o rendimento total do desdobro das toras das espécies Qualea paraensis e Erisma uncinatum, respectivamente. Para a espécie Erisma uncinatum os produtos serrados com maior produção foram a tábua no desdobro primário e a tábua curta no aproveitamento dos resíduos, enquanto que, para a espécie Qualea paraensis houve maior produção de caibro e sarrafo curto nos mesmos processos. The Tauari is another natural fiber researched in order to analyze the mechanical properties of polymeric composite materials manufacturing process. This paper targeted the mechanical properties evaluation of materials based on polyester composites reinforced with particulate tauari fiber of 10mm and 15mm long. The polyester composites reinforced with continuous and aligned tauari fiber also were included at the present research. The fibers used at the experiments did not pass through any kind of chemical process during the composites manufacturing process, the entire manufacturing was made manually and the mass proportion used by the fibers inside each composite were: 10,58% -10mm particulate tauari fiber; 5.22% -15mm particulate tauari fiber. The results of the traction tests presented that the mechanical resistance of the composite increased when the length of the fiber used was increased and the fibers had a better alignment which increased the fiber-matrix contact. The results of the traction tests were: 10mm particulate tauari fiber -18,84MPa; 15 mm particulate tauari fiber -19,08MPa; aligned and continuous tauari fiber -19,20MPa. Such results were compared with another natural fiber from previous researches using the quantity and quality method and was concluded that the polymeric composites reinforced with tauari fiber or other materials using the tauari fiber can be applied at the industrial environment at many sectors.

Wood is widely used in many sectors of civil construction as a structural material. Brazilian code ABNT NBR 7190:1997 "Design of Timber Structures" governs the method of project design as well as the characterization of wood for structural design. In this aspect the code considers wood as an orthoptic material, however is well known that the organic origin provides great anatomical complexity to its. This work aims to study the distribution of normal stresses in a Tauari wood beam subjected to the elastic regime, and to ascertain the current position of the Neutral Line during test. For this purpose, a four-point static bending test and subsequent compression and tension to the grain tests were performed to determine the modulus of elasticity and calculate the normal stresses by recording deformations and applying Hooke's Law. The data were statistically analyzed to define bests adjusts to Stress vs. Strain diagrams, and thus determine the location of the Neutral Line. It was verified that the position of the Neutral Line was a normal distribution variable, being located at 1,07cm above the geometric center of the board. Finally, the comparison between values of normal tension obtained experimentally and through the theoretical method was determined and similarities were verified in these data, being also plausible the theory for the calculation of the normal tensions of the wood beams, when it is in the elastic regime.
