Abstract

ResumoO trabalho que ora apresentamos tem como mote central a análise do processo sociopolítico e histórico que suscitou a promoção do aglomerado urbano Crajubar, este formado pelas três cidades mais importantes do Cariri cearense, à condição metropolitana de caráter institucional. Isso significou pôr em causa os atributos históricos e territoriais que ambientaram o projeto de institucionalização da Região Metropolitana do Cariri-RMCariri. Trata-se de De modo especial, focalizamos o recorte territorial situado no extremo Sul do estado do Ceará, denominado pelo Governo cearense de "Cariri Central", mais precisamente o aglomerado urbano-regional formado pelas três maiores cidades desse conjunto sub-regional, a saber, Crajubar -denominação resultante da reunião das sílabas iniciais das cidades que o integram, a saber, Crato, Juazeiro do Norte e Barbalha. AbstractThe present research has as a central motto, the analysis of historical and sociopolitical process that raised the promotion of Crajubar urban agglomerated, these one, formed by the three major cities of cearense Cariri, to a metropolitan condition. In Brazil, the metropolitan region process of institutionalization has become recourse, especially in the last two decades, watt as awaken some perplexities between different territorial politics studious of metropolis and metropolitan dynamic. In the specific case of the emergence of Cariri Metropolitan Region -RMCariri, we have privileged the analysis of territorial and historical attributes that, in a certain measure, legitimated this conception.Key words: Regional-urban agglomerate, Metropolis, Crajubar, Central hinterlands of Northeast. ResumenEl presente ensayo tiene como tema central el análisis de los procesos socio-políticos e históricos que llevaron a la promoción del aglomerado urbano CRAJUBAR, formado por las tres ciudades más importantes del Cariri Cearense, a la condición metropolitana. El proceso de institucionalización de reigones metropolitanas se tornó habitual en Brasil, especialmente en las últimas décadas, lo que ha despertado la perplejidad entre diferentes estudiosos de esa política territorial, de la metrópolis y de la dinámica metropolitana. En el caso específico de la emergencia de la Región Metropolitana del Cariri-RMCariri, se privilegió el análisis de los atributos históricos y territoriales que en cierta medida legitimaron su concepción.

Factors Associated With Infant Mortality in the Metropolitan Region of Cariri, Ceará, Brazil

“…All deaths happened in children under one year old of the municipalities of the metropolitan region of Cariri, Ceará, Brazil, registered in the mortality information system and live births information system from January 2009 to December 2013. A form was used for extraction of the following variables: from the newborn (sex, race/color and weight at birth), from the mom (maternalage, education and type of gestation) and social assistance (labor type) being taken from the Informatics Department of the Unified Health System (DATASUS) through the address www.datasus.gov.br, which still features incomplete coverage, being only 90% to total deaths and 71% for deaths of children under one year in the Mortality Information System (MIS) in the country, being held by the Health Ministry 9 . These data were collected related to year of death, the metropolitan region of Cariri and small cities around this area.…”
