Abstract: Additionally, the analysis of Pantanal biome environmental vulnerability of the landscape units considering different types of vegetation, topography and soils units showed that Pantanal has an intermediate environmental fragility, located mainly in the alluvial deposition areas of the Taquari river and in flood plains with altitude between 50 and 250 meters.

“…The swampland plains is influenced by changes in the regime of floods, causing changes in vegetation cover (Pereira et al, 2012), attributed to the complexities of the hydrologic regime of Paraguay river, to low slope of the land and the low drainage capacity of rivers and lakes, leaving large areas with a large volume of water on a regular basis in the region (Gonçalves et al, 2011). These facts act in the control of the advancement of canjiqueira.…”

“…The climate of the region is the Aw köppen type: megatermal tropical climate, with dry winter and rainy in summer, which occur during the period from November to April, and dry from May to October with an annual average rainfall of 1,300 mm (Pereira et al, 2012).…”

“…This biome is characterized by a wide alluvial plain which is flooded during the rainy season by the rivers of the surrounding plateaus due to its low capacity of water flow (Alho et al 1988, Barella et al 2001, Alho 2003. In the Pantanal, the pluviometric regime presents 2 well-defined seasons, a rainy season from October to March and a dry season from April to September (Pereira et al 2012). The climate in the states of the Mato Grosso (MT) and Mato Grosso do Sul (MS), according to the Koeppen climate classification system, is type Am (tropical monsoon climate; MT 47.2% and MS 45.6%), Aw (tropical savanna climate; MT 52.8% and MS 36.6%), and a smaller area with Cfa (humid subtropical climate; MS 11.2%).…”
