The aim of this study was to analyze the participation of women in coaching and referee positions in the Brazilian Women’s Basketball League, from the first edition of the championship (2010) to the present moment (2017). For this proposal, we analyzed the gender of the coaching staff and referee crews from all the matches played in this period. All data were collected from the official match reports, accessed at the League headquarters. The results showed that women represent 24% of the head coaches, and this proportion has remained stable over the past years. However, it was found that women’s participation as assistant coaches dropped from 88% (2010) to 34% (2017). Although, the participation actually increased for women in the positions of referee, umpire 1 and umpire 2, over the past seven years, these positions are still mostly occupied by men. A higher participation of women could be found in scorer and timekeeper positions, which also remained stable over the years. Although women's participation in sports, and specifically in elite Brazilian basketball, has been increasing in the last decades, the findings of this study showed that occupations for women, within basketball are still restricted to positions of less visibility. Men still mostly occupy the positions of leadership, as head coaches and referees. The results suggest the need for debate and proposals of policies, to promote female participation in different leadership positions in basketball. Soccer is the sport with the largest number of practitioners in the world. The present research has as object of study the goalkeepers. The greater relevance of this function is still very recent in the world and national scenario, respectively. In different decades goalkeepers experienced the evolution of this training in the national scenario and lived different experiences among themselves. The central questions of this research are: how did sports career development of goalkeepers who play or have already played in the Brazilian men's national team? Were there thresholds in their sportsc career that lead them to elite level? The theoretical framework was based on the research of Côté, Stambulova and their collaborators. The aim of this study is to investigate and describe the athletic career of goalkeepers who play or have played in the Brazilian men's national team, based on a retrospective analysis of the players themselves. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with seven Brazilian goalkeepers who experienced the sports elite at the international level in different periods. The methodology for this study, it was used the Reflexive Thematic Analysis. The participants were involved with a high amount of deliberate play through games related to football in different contexts. All the transitions occurred with several singularities between the groups and the participants in relation to that proposed by the DMSP. It was possible to realize a technical tendency in the development process of the participants' athletic career. The conclusions are: the DMSP is not enough to analyze the complexity of factors that influence the development of the sports career. The PAF, the Sports Career Transition Model and the Cultural Transition Model are essential tools to sustain the gaps left by the first model; there are significant differences between the forms of career development between the three groups; there is a predominance of the thecnic aspects in structured training. We highlight the necessity to improve the tactical aspect in the periodization of training.

Sport, encompassing its complexity and plural manifestations found in society, is the object of studies that seek, among other objectives, to map and understand its configuration, seeking best practices and results to achieve excellence, especially internationally. Starting from this point, an opportunity was identified to map the configuration of the Entities involved in national high-performance basketball. The national basketball teams have significant international achievements, however in recent decades it has not achieved convincing results. Noting that more recently organizations that manage and promote practice of basketball in the country are mobilizing their efforts to generate growth and to (re)structuring the modality, a qualitative study was proposed to understand and evaluate the management of the high-performance sport of the basketball modality, male and female, in Brazil. Managers from 2 Administration Entities and 7 Practice Entities were interviewed, starting from 10 important points to achieve international success in high performance sports. From the results obtained, it can be verified that the Entities demonstrate concern and understanding of the need of management professionalization, although the chain apparently does not present itself well-defined; the financing is mixed, from several sources of resources, however seems scarce; there is concern in the realization of competitions, however guidelines and actions are not identified, nor a system for the development of sports talent, at national levels, and it is still up to clubs such developments; among other aspects. The findings are in line with the results of other studies involving different modalities in the country.
