<b>Genome-wide association study using the Bayes C method for important traits in dairy yield in Colombian Holstein Cattle

Abstract: The objective of this study was to determine the genome association between markers of bovine LD BeadChip with dairy important traits. Information of breeding program of the Universidad Nacional de Colombia was used. BLUP-EBVs were used for dairy yield (DY), fat percentage (FP), protein percentage (PP) and somatic cell score (SCS). 150 animals were selected for blood or semen DNA extraction and genotyping with BovineLD BeadChip (Illumina). Autosomal information was retained and the editing information was perf… Show more

“…The proteins of the LRP1B gene (within CNVR_59, common to all breeds), participate in a wide range of physiological processes, including the regulation of lipid metabolism, neurodevelopment, and transport of nutrients and vitamins [ 52 , 53 ], but also in cell proliferation process, making it a potential candidate gene for the supernumerary nipple phenotype [ 54 ]. The KHDRBS2 gene, within the CNVR_310 with the highest variance, has been associated with fertility and reproductive traits in cattle [ 55 ], goat [ 56 ], and sheep [ 57 ].…”

“…Furthermore, the results indicate the TMEM229A, POLE, XKR4 and CADPS genes were harboring significant SNPs correlated to the bone quality trait. In relation to the BovineHD0400024774-rs133088614 SNP, located close to the transmembrane protein 229A gene (TMEM229A), Juan Carlos [72] described the polymorphism of this gene as having a great effect on dairy yield per lactation in Colombian Holstein cattle. There are no further publications concerning this gene in cattle.…”

“…This can be explained by the fact that apolipoprotein E acts as an LDL receptor, which promotes the recognition and catabolism of triglyceride-rich lipoproteins (Mahley et al, 1984). In a study with Holstein dairy cattle, LRP1B was reported as a candidate for fat deposition in milk (Flórez et al, 2018). In other species, such as birds, it was reported as involved in the composition of fatty acids and in fat deposition (Jin et al, 2018;.…”
