Quality of Highly Complex Care in Cardiology

Abstract

Factors like the high costs of currently available technologies, the work overload of health professionals, and population aging and consequent increase of chronic diseases have highlighted the need for special attention to the quality of health care provided, especially in high-complexity cardiovascular care. 1 Although there are several definitions of healthrelated quality, the present analysis is grounded in the concept that aspects like efficiency, or effectiveness, are associated with the safety of care provided, which in turn is closely related to patient centrality and protection of their rights.
