Family resilience is a complex, multi-determined behavior caused by the inseparable action of risk and protection factors. The purpose of this paper is to associate aspects of family resilience with multiple dimensions of poverty through a quantitative, descriptive, correlative, exploratory study with a sample of 448 low-income families in thirteen Social Assistance Reference Centers in Belém, Pará. The instruments used in the study were the Family Resilience Profile Questionnaire, the Social and Demographic Inventory, and the Family Poverty Rate. The results state that the families are not living in extreme poverty; however, they still face adversities due to the poverty. A significant presence of women, where 90.6% of the participants were mothers living in a single-parent family, attests that women are still the part of the population most affected by poverty. Furthermore, the results showed that the higher the poverty level, the lower the family resilience, and aspects such as work, knowledge and human development, especially child development, are aspects that enhance family resources to face adversities.

Com o avanço da pandemia da COVID-19 no Brasil, inúmeras ações necessitaram ser tomadas para evitar contaminações e mortes. Tais medidas acabaram afetando desproporcionalmente as pessoas mais pobres da sociedade, colocando-as em situação de vulnerabilidade social. Assim, este trabalho analisa a influência da rede de proteção social na vida das famílias de classes populares da cidade de Nova Serrana, estado de Minas Gerais, durante a pandemia da COVID-19. O referencial teórico aborda a política social, a pobreza e suas visões, e as desigualdades sociais e alguma de suas formas. Dado a complexidade do fenômeno, optou-se pelo estudo de caso com abordagem qualitativa. A coleta de dados foi através de entrevistas com famílias de classes populares, integrantes da SSVP, e Assistente Social do CRAS. Os resultados mostraram que a rede de proteção social foi de suma importância durante o período e que nem sempre essa ajuda vem por parte dos órgãos públicos.Palavras-chave: Desigualdade Social. (Papa Francisco).Com o surgimento do Estado de Bem-Estar Social, as políticas sociais se tornaram cada dia mais presentes no dia-a-dia da população. Segundo Mena (2004) são através delas, que o Estado ajuda a construir uma sociedade mais justa e igualitária, sendo responsáveis em alinhar os interesses pessoais com o da sociedade como um todo, dando assistência quando necessário e auxiliando nos demais conflitos que podem surgir no seio do sistema capitalista. O sistema capitalista trouxe consigo inúmeros avanços, mas também grandes dilemas para a sociedade moderna. A consolidação do capitalismo resultou também em um aumento expressivo da desigualdade social que segundo Trovão e Manzano (2019) é fruto de uma distribuição desigual por parte deste sistema. Objective: In Brazil, national estimates of childhood malnutrition have not been updated since 2006. The use of health information systems is an important complementary data source for analysing time trends on health and nutrition. This study aimed to examine temporal trends and sociodemographic inequalities in the prevalence of malnutrition in children attending primary health care services between 2009 and 2017. Design: Time trends study based on data from Brazil’s Food and Nutrition Surveillance System. Malnutrition prevalence (stunting, wasting, overweight, and double burden) was annually estimated by sociodemographic variables. Prais-Winsten regression models were used to analyse time trends. Annual percent change (APC) and 95% confidence intervals (95%CI) were calculated. Setting: Primary health care services, Brazil. Participants: Children under five years old. Results: In total, 15,239,753 children were included. An increase in the prevalence of overweight (APC=3.4%; p=0.015) and a decline in the prevalence of wasting (-6.2%; p=0.002) were observed. The prevalence of stunting (-3.2%, p=0.359) and double burden (-1.4%, p=0.630) had discrete and non-significant reductions. Despite the significant reduction in the prevalence of undernutrition among children in the most vulnerable subgroups (black, conditional cash transfer’s recipients, and residents of poorest and less developed areas), high prevalence of stunting and wasting persist alongside a disproportionate increase in the prevalence of overweight in these groups. Conclusions: The observed pattern in stunting (high and persistent prevalence) and increase in overweight elucidates setbacks in advances already observed in previous periods and stress the need for social and political strategies to address multiple forms of malnutrition.
