Assessment of an anti-ageing structured cosmetic formulation containing goji berry

Abstract: Based on previous studies, it has been found that goji berry (GB), popularly known as a 'miracle fruit', has excellent antioxidant potential and can be used in the treatment of skin disorders associated with ageing. This study aimed to incorporate GB into a structured cosmetic in order to optimise its penetration. Stability studies of the formulation, determination of the antioxidant activity of the extract and of the formulation, rheological measurements, SAXS, polarised light microscopy and bioadhesion analy… Show more

“…Quercetin, which was used as a positive control because of its high antioxidant activity, showed >50 % inhibition. Although its antioxidant activity was lower than that of quercetin, this product may potentially exert anti‐aging properties, as reported elsewhere for formulas containing plant‐derived antioxidant compounds [28–30] …”

“…Similarly to the viscosity data, the increase in hyaluronic acid concentration and lecithin's presence in ethosomes increase the adhesiveness. In contrast, the presence of the extract decreases the adhesiveness when it is non-encapsulated [47].…”
