Anti-fatigue effect of small molecule oligopeptides from tilapia (Oreochromis Mossambicus) in mice

Abstract: In order to promote the development and application of small molecule oligopeptides from tilapia (SMOT), its anti-fatigue effect was evaluated by using exhaustive swimming in mice. The results showed that compared with the negative control group, SMOT could significantly prolong the exhausted swimming time of mice, reduce blood lactic acid, blood urea nitrogen and malondialdehyde content, and could significantly improve liver glycogen storage status. Meanwhile, the activities of superoxide dismutase and glutat… Show more

“…Human fatigue recovery includes nutritional supplements or drug regulation. Nowadays, scholars have found that there are many bioactive substances in marine organisms, such as hairtail peptides ( Wang et al, 2020 ), tilapia oligopeptides ( Peng et al, 2021 ), large yellow croaker swim bladder protein, hydrolysates of oysters and Ankang fish liver ( Zhao et al, 2016 , Miao et al, 2018 , Xu et al, 2017 ), which also have potential functions such as anti-fatigue.…”

“…In recent years, there has been a growing focus on the nega-tive impact of exercise-induced fatigue on daily activities of people. Currently, methods for alleviating fatigue include sleep aids and pharmacological interventions, which have side effects on health (Peng et al, 2022). Previous studies revealed that the sea cucumber peptide prepared by hydrolyzing the body wall of Stichopus japonicus by neutral protease has property of anti-fatigue, which might be attributed to its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects (Ye et al, 2017).…”

“…The relief and recovery of fatigue have become a research hotspot at home and abroad. Current fatigue relief methods include sleep supplements, drug relief, and nutritional supplementation [ 15 ]. Due to growing health concerns, there are many anti-fatigue products on the market; however, there are health concerns around their often subtle side effects.…”

“…Marine fish bioactive substances have good safety and no side effects and are good supplements for fatigue. Therefore, many researchers have studied the anti-fatigue activity of marine natural bioactive components [ 15 , 16 , 31 , 32 , 33 ]. However, there are no relevant studies on the anti-fatigue activity of hairtail fish glycoprotein (HGP).…”
