Biological activities of Persea americana: in vitro and in vivo studies

Abstract: Natural resources emerge as an essential and alternative tool for controlling parasitic agents. The present study was carried out to evaluate in vitro and in vivo effect of Persea americana fruit extract (PAFE) on helminthiasis and coccidiosis. In vitro, anthelmintic activity was performed using PAFE against Allolobophora caliginose. PAFE elicited significant anthelmintic activity comparable to mebendazole with the lesser time taken to paralysis and death for 200 mg/mL. In vitro anticoccidial activity of PAFE,… Show more

“…The majority of anticoccidial drugs, including sulfaquin‐oxaline, nitrofurazone, nicarbazin, amprolium, prevent coccidian from growing, metabolizing, and reproducing normally. Drug resistance and residues have, however, started to appear as a result of the extensive usage of these drugs (Al‐Otaibi et al, 2023). Plants and their constituent parts have shown promise as potential alternatives to chemical anticoccidial drugs since they have less side effects (Wunderlich et al, 2014).…”
