Trajectories in higher education and the University for All Program (ProUni) are the central theme of this paper. The research question was: To what extent were some factors experienced during university difficulties in the academic trajectory of ProUni and non-ProUni graduates? The approach was quantitative with an explanatory goal. Descriptive and inferential statistics were used in the data analysis. The research subjects were 197 higher education graduates from a Southern Brazil nonprofit institution who entered in 2005. 57 were ProUni scholarship holders and 140 were non-ProUni. Results indicate that the highest percentage of graduates who worked during college were not scholarship holders. A T-test was performed after creating the scales for external (p = 0.19) and internal (p = 0.66) factors, indicating that in both factors there was no statistically significant difference between being a ProUni scholarship holder or not and the difficulties presented during their academic trajectory. Results indicate the need for studies involving the set of higher education graduates in order to better understand the difficulties faced by both groups of students in their academic trajectories.

A training at Higher Education level needs, in addition to improve the skills specific in the area chosen, to develop a set of skills and/or personal attributes that make him or her more likely to succeed in the profession. In this context, this paper was developed and has the objective to identify the relationships between engagement, satisfaction, and employability of students who completed the university as University for All Program (ProUni) scholarship. This target group of students was chosen because of the importance of ProUni for the Advancement of Education policies of affirmative actions in Brazil. The ProUni gives scholarships to students from minority (underrepresented) groups to study at private universities, through the National Secondary Education Exam -ENEM (Brasil, 2005). Among these groups are students who attend public high schools (a proxy for lower social class), low-income students, African Brazilian students, Indigenous Brazilian students, students with disabilities, and not graduated teachers that work in public elementary and secondary schools. The research involved 198 ProUni graduates invited to answer an online questionnaire. There were 134 respondents, 123 (91.8%) were working since we were interested in employment, only these participants were included in the analysis. The results suggest that employability consolidates and reflects in the conquest of labor activity, as well as in graduate satisfaction with their training and job. These results are indicative of the engagement of the student with their learning, therefore with their graduate degree.

Teacher’s practice, permeated by his/her being and doing in the classroom was and remains the subject of study in academia. This article presents the result of a Master Degree’s investigation on Education aimed to identify what are the practices of teachers in a Technical Course in Computing from a town located in the metropolitan area of Porto Alegre under of the view former students. The investigation was a mixed research methodology approach with an exploratory/descriptive goal and a technical ex-post-facto procedure. The research tool was a questionnaire administered to graduates a Technical Course in Computing. Quantitative data was analyzed by descriptive statistics while for the qualitative data we used analysis of content. Among the emerged results, it was observed that graduates with supervised training seem to have a more critical view than the non-supervised training graduates about the activities developed by their teachers. We identified different practices developed by teachers, among them in class assessment without student’s feedback, highlighting the need for improving the assessment practice by the teachers. We observed the need of a teaching more related with the labor market, as well as classes that combine theory with practice.
