Ambientalismo no Instituto Chico Mendes de Conservação da Biodiversidade (ICMBIO) na Amazônia legal

Abstract

Resumotrabalho discute a configuração do ambientalismo e sua distribuição no quadro técnico do Instituto Chico Mendes de Conservação da Biodiversidade (ICMBIO) na Amazônia Legal. Com base na revisão teórica, o ambientalismo foi classificado nas vertentes: preservacionista, sustentabilista e socioambientalista. Foi identificada a vertente predominante e analisadas as relações existentes entre as vertentes e diretorias/ coordenações de lotação e formação acadêmica dos técnicos. A pesquisa teve um delineamento do tipo levantamento com corte transversal. Foi utilizado questionário com afirmações construídas a partir de indicadores representativos das correntes ambientalistas, adotando escala do tipo Likert. O questionário foi disponibilizado a todos os técnicos com formação superior e em exercício na Amazônia Legal. Realizou-se análise de frequências das respostas e partições cruzadas com diretoria e coordenação de procedência e formação acadêmica dos técnicos. Os resultados indicam a presença de um ambientalismo misto no ICMBIO da Amazônia Legal, composto por contribuições das várias concepções e predominância do preservacionismo. Foram constatadas diferenças de visões quando os téc-nicos são agrupados por diretoria, coordenação e formação acadêmica. Palavras-chave: Ambientalismo. Vertentes ambientalistas. Amazônia. ICMBIO Environmentalism at the Chico Mendes Conservation of Biodiversity Institute in the Amazônia Legal ProjectAbstract his works discusses the notions of environmentalism found among the staff at the Chico Mendes Conservation of Biodiversity institute (ICMBIO) in the Amazonia legal project. Based on the literature, environmentalism is classified according to three types: preservationist, sustainabilist and socio-environmentalist. The predominating type and the existing relationships among the different types through the coordinators/directors and their academic backgrounds were analyzed. This is a cross-sectional study using a Likert style questionnaire with statements pertaining to the types which was applied to all the graduate staff working in the Amazonia Legal project. The responses were crossreferenced with the academic background, level and origin of the staff. The results indicate that there is a mixed prevailing notion of environmentalism among the staff although preservationism predominates. Differences were also noted when technicians are grouped in departments, groups and academic background

Environmental conceptions and the ideological commitments that guide the management of the environmental organizations
