Preparation and characterization of microcapsules of Pterodon pubescens Benth. by using natural polymers

Abstract: An oleaginous fraction obtained from an alcohol extract of the fruit of Pterodon pubescens Benth. (FHPp) was microencapsulated in polymeric systems. These systems were developed using a complex coacervation method and consisted of alginate/medium-molecular-weight chitosan (F1-MC), alginate/ chitosan with greater than 75% deacetylation (F2-MC), and alginate/low-molecular-weight chitosan (F3-MC). “…The oil absorption spectra in the infrared region (FT-IR) showed bands at 1745 cm −1 (assigned to the C=O stretching of acetates), at 1244 cm −1 (indicating the asymmetric C-O stretching of acetates), at 1017 cm −1 (denoting asymmetric stretching of C-O-C esters), and at 732 cm −1 (reflecting a furan ring). Furthermore, Fourier transform Raman (FT-Raman) spectroscopy analysis showed a peak at 1673 cm −1 , reflective of the ester group of vouacapanes [ 16 ].
