Background: Being pharmaceutical care one of the four areas defined by the International Pharmaceutical Federation's Global Competence Framework, the curriculum redesigned scheme is a priority task to perform a pharmaceutical workforce capable to contribute significantly to the appropriate use of medicines. Therefore, the pharmacy curriculum should be adapted, in order to provide pharmacists with new knowledge and skills to provide pharmaceutical care services. This study used a modified Delphi technique to define objectives and topical outlines for a pharmaceutical care course on a pharmacy curriculum. Methods: A modified Delphi process was used to determine a consensus among proposed courseobjectives and topical outlines. The preliminary phase of the study included a compilation of prospective objectives and outline topics on which to structure informational flow through the Delphi. A two-round modified Delphi process were completed by the participants in the study. The Delphi questionnaire was organized using six domains: the theoretical program foundation; recommended for teaching literature; instructional and educational objectives of the program (course structure); teaching methods; knowledge, skills and professional values considered; and students’ performance assessments. Nineteen items for evaluation within the referred domains were considered.Results: Consensus was achieved among 15 participants regarding 10 objectives, and eleven topical outlines related to pharmaceutical care teaching in an undergraduate pharmacy course. Despite this favorable valuation and considering the qualitative evaluations provided by the participants, it was believed appropriate to analyze the recommendation for the inclusion of literature for the teaching of the course in Spanish language (73%). It resulted in a project proposal for the elaboration of a book by a group of authors from all the faculties of pharmacy in the country.Conclusion: A Delphi expert panel achieved consensus on topical outline and objectives for a pharmaceutical care course. The results of this study can be used to underline the didactic guidance for pharmaceutical care teaching and learning useful for future pharmacy curriculum upgrades.

A prática de técnicas incorretas no que diz respeito à classe das “tecnologias assistivas” pode trazer sérias complicações ao indivíduo, como eventos graves de sub ou superdosagem (relacionados, respectivamente, a uma possível falta de efetividade ou exacerbação de resposta). No momento da dispensação de tais produtos, o farmacêutico pode contribuir com melhoria da experiência do paciente e a Educação em Saúde. O objetivo deste estudo foi analisar o atual cenário da utilização de dispositivos médicos pelos próprios usuários, focar nas implicações de sua incorreta realização e destacar oportunidades de atuação do farmacêutico no medicaensinamento de técnicas corretas de utilização. Considerando a expressividade das doenças aos quais estão associados, escolheu-se os seguintes dispositivos: canetas para injeção de insulina; dispositivos para inalação com pó seco e aparelhos para nebulização de medicamentos; e, sistemas de irrigação para colostomia. Foi realizada revisão bibliográfi ca do tipo narrativa dos últimos 20 anos de artigos publicados em inglês, português e espanhol, consultados nas bases de dados SciELO, PubMed, Web of Science e Science Direct, além de revistas/jornais de grande circulação e sites de instituições nacionais e internacionais, respeitando o limite de aproximadamente 2-4 publicações por tema. Os artigos selecionados demonstraram as implicações da má utilização dos referidos dispositivos e discutiram o impacto de intervenções realizadas por profissionais da saúde, principalmente os farmacêuticos, na educação dos usuários de tais produtos, com melhoria da qualidade de vida. Foi possível compreender a importância da Educação em Saúde e verificar a oportunidade do farmacêutico no estabelecimento de planos educacionais nesse cenário.

Objective. To summarize the effects of media methods used in continuing education (CE) programs on providing clinical community pharmacy services and the methods used to evaluate the effectiveness of these programs. Methods. A systematic review was performed using Medline, SciELO, and Scopus databases. The timeline of the search was 1990 to 2013. Searches were conducted in English, Portuguese, and Spanish. Results. Nineteen articles of 3990 were included. Fourteen studies used only one media method, and the live method (n511) was the most frequent (alone or in combination). Only two studies found that the CE program was ineffective or partially effective; these studies used only the live method. Most studies used nonrobust, nonvalidated, and nonstandardized methods to measure effectiveness. The majority of studies focused on the effect of the CE program on modifying the knowledge and skills of the pharmacists. One study assessed the CE program's benefits to patients or clients. Conclusion. No evidence was obtained regarding which media methods are the most effective. Robust and validated methods, as well as assessment standardization, are required to clearly determine whether a particular media method is effective.Keywords: continuing education, community pharmacy, pharmacy service INTRODUCTIONCommunity pharmacists are among the most accessible health professionals. [1][2][3] This shift has created a need to develop and maintain expertise and competence in new areas, including pharmacotherapy, interpersonal communication, and patient information documentation. 4,5 However, pharmacy curricula in several countries do not focus on clinical community pharmacy services. Only a few disciplines focus on developing communication skills and pharmacotherapy knowledge. [6][7][8] Studies report that community pharmacists in several countries have insufficient knowledge in these areas, 9-12 and community pharmacists commonly provide clinical community pharmacy services at an unsatisfactory level of quality.
