Abstract:Antimycotic clotrimazole (CTZ) has demonstrated remarkable activity against Plasmodium falciparum in vitro and in vivo. Hemoglobin degradation by Plasmodium parasites makes amino acids available for protein synthesis, inducing oxidative stress in infected cells and producing free heme.
