Characterization of tomato accessions for resistance to early blight

Abstract: - BGH-2081, BGH-2034, BGH-700, BGH-2057, BGH-2035, BGH-2054, BGH-2018, BGH-2065, BGH-2008, and BGH-2032 had a lower mean AUDPC than the controls and are therefore indicated for future breeding programs.

“…The development of an effective improvement programme depends upon the existence of genetic variability (Meena and Bahadur, 2013) and knowledge of genotypic and phenotypic correlation of yield components. High genetic variability will increase the chances of establishing superior accessions/genotypes successfully in subsequent generations of selection (Hallauer and Miranda Filho, 1988;Grigolli et al, 2011). Correlation study measures the natural relationship between various traits and helps in determining the component traits on which selection can be based for yield improvement (Cruz and Regazzi, 2006;Grigolli et al, 2011;Izge et al, 2012).…”

“…Como não há cultivares de tomateiro resistentes à doença (Grigolli et al, 2011), a medida mais utilizada para o controle da pinta-preta é a aplicação de fungicidas, o que acarreta o aumento do custo de Pesq. agropec.…”

“…Given this perspective, materials were selected that have resistance to certain diseases, such as black spot, so as to increase productivity (PAULA; OLIVEIRA, 2003;GRIGOLLI et al, 2011). Laurindo et al (2015) reported that BGH-2143 access, BGH-2235, BGH-2270, BGH-2118, belonging to S. lycopersicum species are potential sources of resistance to early blight.…”
