Phytoseiidae (Acari: Mesostigmata) is a large family of predatory mites. They are fast-moving, active predators, feeding mostly on mites but also on small insects, nematodes and fungi, and may feed on plants, including pollen and extrafloral exudates. “…C 5 sugars were estimated by a colorimetric method using hydrochloric acid, acetic acid and phloroglucinol [21]. A modified Klasson methodology was followed to determine the lignin content [22]. This procedure was selected because it considered the influence of the furans (HMF and furfural) in the medium.…”

“…surveys, behaviour, biocontrol), are most probably based on specimens compatible with Athias-Henriot's concept (1977), largely because most available species descriptions, as well as most if not all identification keys (e.g. Pickett & Gilstrap, 1984;Ueckermann & Loots, 1988;Ehara & Amano, 1998;Denmark et al, 1999;Zhang, 2003;Papadoulis et al, 2009;Faraji et al, 2011;Rocha et al, 2014;Tixier et al, 2016), are in agreement with the species concept of N. californicus sensu Athias-Henriot (1977).…”

“…The EHR and the LBL were chemically characterized according to the methodology developed by Rocha et al (1997) and validated by Gouveia et al (2009). The lignocellulosic materials were analyzed in order to determinate carbohydrates, acid-insoluble and soluble lignin and ash contents.…”
