Objective: to validate the Knowledge Questionnaire regarding Standard Precautions Measures for Brazilian nurses.Method: a methodological exploratory study carried out in health institutions of two municipalities in the interior of São Paulo with 121 nurses. Data were collected through the sociodemographic questionnaire and the standard precautions knowledge questionnaire, adapted for Brazilian Portuguese, both of which were self-applicable.Results: the questionnaire showed to be stable and concordant, with an Intraclass Correlation Coefficient of 0.91 and a satisfactory Kappa index. The validation by discriminant groups did not identify a statistically significant difference between the groups of nurses who reported receiving training or not on standard precautions measures (p=0.209).Conclusion: the use of this questionnaire can help in the planning and implementation of educational programs aimed at patient and professional safety, focusing on health workers adherence to standard precautions measures. Los datos fueron recolectados a través del cuestionario sociodemográfico y el cuestionario de conocimientos acerca de las precauciones estándar, adaptado para el portugués de Brasil, tanto autoadministrado.Resultados: el cuestionario era estable y consistente con el coeficiente de correlación intra-clase de 0,91 y el índice Kappa satisfactorio. DISABKIDS® in Brazil: advances and future perspectives for the production of scientific knowledge

Objective: to map the Brazilian scientific production related to the stages of the methodological process for the use of DISABKIDS ® instruments and/or forms adapted to Brazil. Method: scoping review, with searches conducted on10 electronic databases, plus Google Scholar and contacts with researchers, without restriction of period or language. Results: the mapping identified 90 scientific studies involving 46 instruments. Of these, 11 (23.9%) included the elaboration and/or cultural adaptation of the DISABKIDS ® instruments to measure the Quality of Life of children or adolescents with chronic conditions and 35 (76.1%) used the Generic Measures and/or Specific Modules for the semantic validation of other instruments. Conclusion: this scoping review allowed a comprehensive evaluation of the use of the DISABKIDS ® instrument and forms, in relation to the validation of the instrument adapted to Brazil, presenting a positive advance in the scenario with the development of academic/scientific projects in the country, incorporating the method recommended by the literature for the elaboration, cultural adaptation and validation of instruments and for the systematized and standardized recording of the perception and understanding of the target population about the measure of interest, using DISABKIDS ® forms adapted for this purpose.

Construction and Validation of an Educational Video for Improving Adherence of Nursing Professionals to Standard Precautions

Objective: build and validate an educational video as a strategy to encourage adherence of nursing professionals to Standard Precautions. Methods: in the first phase, a descriptive study was conducted with 197 nursing professionals from two hospitals in Cuiabá, Mato Grosso, Brazil, to identify knowledge and factors affecting adherence to Standard Precautions; data were collected using the Questionnaire for Knowledge and Compliance with Standard Precaution (Portuguese version). In the second phase, a methodological study and an educational video were developed with the results obtained in the first phase, structured according to Nola Pender’s Revised Health Promotion Model. The Delphi technique was used in video validation, a process involving 13 specialists. Results: knowledge of nursing professionals about Standard Precautions ranged from 6.1% to 99%. The major deficits were related to the objectives and purposes of Standard Precautions. Adherence ranged from 36.0% to 95.4% and was low regarding the proper use of some personal protective equipment, recapping of used needles, hand washing after removing gloves, and procedures after exposure to biological materials. The script was validated in two rounds, reaching 82.3% and 92.8% of consensus, respectively, and the video was validated in the third round, with a 92.3% consensus. Conclusion: lack of knowledge about the objectives and purposes of Standard Precautions was observed among nursing professionals, and many of them do not fully adopt them. The video was considered valid by the specialists and can be used to expand knowledge and, consequently, encourage adherence of nursing professionals to Standard Precautions.
