When assessing the fragility that characterizes the health of an immigrant person, a culturally competent transformation of the nurse–patient teaching-learning process is necessary. Therefore, it is considered essential to incorporate cultural competence and intercultural communication in higher nursing education.ObjectiveTo determine the content and knowledge of cultural competence and intercultural communication offered in higher education in nursing courses.DesignThe Campinha-Bacote model of cultural competence was used as the primary reference.MethodA scoping review was conducted about studies published in the period 2003 and 2020. The research was conducted between May and October 2020. More than a hundred documents (books, chapters, articles, conference proceedings) have been consulted.ResultsUndergraduate nursing courses and postgraduate education move toward promoting cultural competence and sensitivity through teaching strategies.ConclusionsTeaching projects that combine multiple competencies are more effective, including teacher training. A predominant element is a need for continuous and transversal projects. University nursing education must adapt culturally competent curricula.

Objective: To describe published ndings on eating habits and their relationship with overweight and obesity in Mexican adults. Materials and Methods: Integrative review based on 5 steps suggested by Crossetti, using the keywords "feeding habits", "overweight", "obesity" and "Mexican adults" along with Boolean operators "AND" and "OR" in the Scielo, PubMed, Conricyt, Scopus and WOS databases, with publications in Spanish and English, between the years 2005 and 2020. Results: 64 articles were identi ed and 52 were discarded, leaving 12 that complied with the inclusion criteria. e articles were extensively analyzed, identifying 4 categories: 1) Housing area; 2) Socioeconomic stratum; 3) Gender and 4) Culture; each of them divided into subcategories. Conclusions: Rural areas report higher consumption of fruits, vegetables, cereals, vitamins and lower caloric consumption, while in urban areas more fat, processed food, re ned sugars and fewer vegetables, fruits and cereals are consumed. A higher socioeconomic stratum is associated with a less caloric diet and more natural food. Men consume more meat, fat and alcohol, while women consume more carbohydrates and re ned sugars. Regarding cultural issues, people report distractions at mealtime, such as cell phone use, low water consumption and high consumption of soft drinks (70%); they also refer to barriers to healthy eating, such as work, eating meals quickly without considering the quality of food. ese ndings suggest considering socioeconomic and cultural factors in the preventive actions that nursing professionals carry out in clinical and community practice.

Objective: To identify the scienti c evidence related to the experience of cancer patients undergoing complementary therapies. Materials and Methods: Integrative review that followed Crossetti's 5 methodological steps.e search strategy considered the terms "Complementary erapies", "Neoplasia", "Nursing", "Experience and Qualitative Research", using the Boolean operators "AND" and "OR" in Spanish, Portuguese and English. It was carried out in the BVS, SCIELO, SCOPUS, WOS data bases, in the period between 2000 and 2019. Results: 16 qualitative primary articles met the inclusion criteria. Six categories were identi ed: beliefs about complementary therapies, complementary therapy vs. conventional therapy, holistic wellbeing, time for personal love, making sense of the cancer experience and increasing personal control. Conclusions: People with cancer who use complementary therapies report positive experiences and good quality of life, with bene ts over cancer or chemotherapy symptoms, and improvements in mental, spiritual and social health. Qualitative studies on complementary therapies focus on the reasons leading patients to use them, their beliefs and overall satisfaction as a whole. It is necessary to investigate these experiences focusing on speci c therapies, and to recognize which is more bene cial to a person with cancer. More evidence could support its inclusion into nursing care practice.
