Avaliação da notificação no Distrito Federal de casos de tuberculose residentes em dez municípios goianos do entorno e análise da incidência de tuberculose nestas localidades

Abstract: The number of tuberculosis patients treated in the city in which they resided was lower than expected. Treatment in another city might impair tuberculosis control. The recalculated tuberculosis incidence is consistent with the socioeconomic and demographic profile of the region. A federal surveillance system could be efficiently optimized, improving the control of this disease.

“…That is, the incidence rate of bacilliferous pulmonary tuberculosis in the most deprived area is almost eight times higher than the incidence rate in the most privileged neighborhood. This inequality is greater than that found in other studies that measured social inequalities in tuberculosis in Brazil 22,23 . Similar results were obtained with the stratified analysis, which divided the city into four socioeconomic strata.…”

“…This can result in pulmonary infarctions, necrosis of the alveolar wall with consequent airway remodeling 29 , pulmonary fibrosis and progressive loss of lung function 30 , 31 . In addition, RVP may be a result of shallow breathing caused by chest pain or by structural impairments of the chest cavity due to bone infarcts, osteoporosis or osteomalacia in the vertebrae 3 .…”

“…SCD is characterized by a mutation in the gene encoding the beta chain of hemoglobin, which results in a change from the normal hemoglobin conformation (HbA) to the hemoglobin S conformation (HbS). This conformational change can lead to several hemoglobinopathies, including sickle cell anemia (HbSS), HbSC and S-thalassemia, as well as several others with lower incidence 2 , 3 . Deoxygenated hemoglobin undergoes a polymerization process that induces red blood cells to acquire a sickle-like shape, which results in cell damage and causes systemic organ dysfunction 2 , 4 - 6 .…”

“…Os casos novos refletem a dinâmica com que os casos aparecem na população, por isso é fundamental a observância e o controle da tuberculose, que tem como ferramentas a detecção precoce dos casos novos e o tratamento eficaz da doença. A taxa de transferência dos casos estudados está relacionada ao fato do diagnóstico ser feito em outro município e o tratamento ser realizado de forma oportuna no município de Imperatriz-MA (MOREIRA et al, 2007).…”
