Abstract:Na geometria plana, o círculo é definido como o conjunto de todos os pontos do plano equidistantes de um ponto arbitrário também pertencente ao plano. Apolônio de Perga (c. 262 a.C - 190 a.C.), o grande geômetra como era conhecido por seus contemporâneos, descobriu um modo alternativo de definir o círculo. O círculo de Apolônio pode ser empregado na solução do problema eletrostático envolvendo uma esfera condutora e uma carga puntiforme.
