BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES:Postoperative chronic abdominal pain still lacks pathophysiological studies, being described after Cesarean section, inguinal hernia, videolaparoscopy and cholecystectomy. In lower abdomen, chronic proctalgia has been described after hemorrhoidectomy and is characterized as pain at evacuation followed by fecal urgency.
