Resumo. Em otimização estrutural os resultados obtidos devem ser robustos em relação a incertezas, sejam elas oriundas da natureza probabilística das variáveis de trabalho où aquelas inerentesà resistência dos materiais, por exemplo. Este fato tem levado ao desenvolvimento de diferentes metodologias de otimização estrutural baseada em incertezas. Sendo assim, o objetivo deste trabalhoé propor uma nova formulação para o problema de otimização topológica estrutural baseada em confiabilidade com restrição em tensão. Buscam-se então estruturas de volume mínimo que atendam simultaneamente aos critérios de resistência e confiabilidade estruturais. Palavras-chave. Confiabilidade, Restrição em Tensão, Derivada Topológica IntroduçãoEm otimização topológica estrutural buscam-se estruturas (topologias)ótimas de acordo com um dado aspecto partindo-se de uma geometria definida e de um material escolhido. Um desses aspectos trata de um antigo desafio da engenharia e consiste em desenhar uma estrutura com mínimo volume capaz de resistiràs tensões oriundas dos carregamentos aplicados. Diversas técnicas de otimização foram empregadas na solução de tal problema, dentre as quais destacam-se os métodos baseados no conceito de derivada topológica. SummaryTopology optimization using stress constraints and considering uncertainties is a serious challenge, since a reliability problem has to be solved for each stress constraint, for each element in the mesh. In this paper, an alternative way of solving this problem is used, where uncertainty quantification is performed through the first-order perturbation approach, with proper validation by Monte Carlo simulation. Uncertainties are considered in the loading magnitude and direction. The minimum volume problem subjected to local stress constraints is formulated as a robust problem, where the stress constraints are written as a weighted average between their expected value and standard deviation. The augmented Lagrangian method is used for handling the large set of local stress constraints, whereas a gradient-based algorithm is used for handling the bounding constraints. It is shown that even in the presence of small uncertainties in loading direction, different topologies are obtained when compared to a deterministic approach. The effect of correlation between uncertainties in loading magnitude and direction on optimal topologies is also studied, where the main observed result is loss of symmetry in optimal topologies.

In real-world structural problems, a number of factors may cause geometric imperfections, load variability, or even uncertainties in material properties. Therefore, a deterministic optimization procedure may fail to account such uncertainties present in the actual system leading to optimum designs that are not reliable; the designed system may show excessive safety or sometimes not sufficient reliability to carry applied load due to uncertainties. In this paper, we introduce a hybrid reliability-based design optimization (RBDO) algorithm based on the genetic operations of Genetic Algorithm, the position and velocity update of the Particle Swarm Algorithm (for global exploration), and the sequential quadratic programming, for local search. The First-Order Reliability Method is used to account uncertainty in design and parameter variables and to evaluate the associated reliability. The hybrid method is analyzed based on RBDO benchmark examples that range from simple to complex truss parametric sizing optimizations with stress, displacements, and frequency deterministic and probabilistic constraints. The proposed final problem, which cannot be handled by single loop RBDO algorithms, highlights the importance of the proposed approach in cases where the discrete design variables are also random variables.
