Penile fracture: experience in 56 cases

Abstract: Penile fracture is an entity of eminently clinical diagnosis, which management should be surgical and immediate, avoiding thus complications related to erectile dysfunction. When suspecting an associated urethral injury, Urethrocystogram is recommended. In cases where there is diagnostic uncertainty, ultrasound and/or MRI may be used to reveal the condition.

Patients with unilateral right or left corporal involvement had 6.5-5.2% incidence of ED, respectively.…”

“…Most recent studies favor early surgical repair because of the adequate functional and cosmetic results with minimal complications. [9][10][11][12] ED is a critical problem that may have serious physical and psychological consequences.…”

“…Penile rupture is seen together with urethral injury in 10-20% of cases. In this case, urethral bleeding, hematuria and difficulty of urination may be seen [7][8][9]. Penile dorsal vein rupture developing during sexual intercourse is also a rare entity causing a clinical view similar to penile fracture.…”
