“…The diversity patterns concerning the families representing EPT in the Neotropics were maintained in relation to studies conducted in other regions of the country (Bispo and Oliveira, 2007;Righi-Cavallaro et al, 2010). The Plecoptera is represented by six families in the Neotropics (Stark et al, 2009), but only two (Gripopterygidae and Perlidae) occur in Brazil (Froehlich, 2011); both recorded in this study. Fourteen families of Ephemeroptera are recorded in the Neotropics, ten of them in Brazil (Salles et al, 2004).…”

“…In each stream, the largest variety of mesohabitats were identified in situ and aquatic invertebrates were collected in three replicate samples with a Surber and three replicate samples of twenty seconds with a D net (both equipment with a 250μm mesh). Taxonomic identification was made up to the genus level with the aid of taxonomic keys and specialists (Merritt & Cummins, 1996;Epler, 2001;Benetti et al, 2003;Heckman, 2006Heckman, , 2008Lecci & Froehlich, 2007;Mariano & Froehlich, 2007;Michat et al, 2008;Dominguez & Fernández, 2009;Mugnai et al, 2010;Ramírez, 2010;Springer, 2010;Froehlich, 2011;Trivinho-Strixino, 2011;Braun et al, 2014;Hamada et al, 2014). Specimens that presented loss of morphological structures were identified up to the lowest possible taxonomic level.…”

“…5). Until 2011 a total of 26 species of Gripopterygidae were registered in São Paulo (Froehlich, 2011). Most of these records are due to the efforts of Prof. Dr. Claudio G. Froehlich and other researchers involved in programs such as the BIOTA/FAPESP, that since 1999 has funding studies on fauna of São Paulo State.…”
