Simping (P. placenta) is a coastal resource found in shallow water with a muddy substrate. Simping widely used as a source of food and as raw material for the decoration. Utilization of simping until now has not yet focused on recruitment, reproductive aspect. This information is important as a basis data for determining the size of the simping catch. This study aimed to find out about of reproduction aspect, determining sex ratio the size of the catch simping. This research was conduct for three months at 3 locations. The number of samples in the analysis is 36 species to determine sex ratio and gonad maturity. Sex ratio indifferent from male and female, but based on the time sex ratio of simping significant, both male and female. The length size of gonads shellfish matures form 5.50 cm and 5.85 cm at 2 TKG conditions. Length of simping mature from 6.08 cm, 6.24 cm, 6.45 cm and 7.11 cm dominant at TKG mature stage 3, and 8.61 cm dominant at 4 TKG conditions. Sex ratio reaches 6 cm shell length and not significant between males and females (M: F=1;1). It is concluded that the level of maturity of gonads increases with increasing of simping size.

The macrofauna associated with Sargassum species is relatively well known on the coast of São Paulo, in studies conducted mainly in continental shore areas. On the other hand, investigations on the molluscan fauna associated with Sargassum are still rare in Brazil and there are no studies comparing the composition and variation of molluscan communities associated with this brown alga in relation to continental and oceanic islands faces. Thus, in this study, we evaluated the composition, richness, diversity and geographic distribution of these communities, comparing areas facing the continent and open ocean areas on the Island of São Sebastião, São Paulo, to contribute with biodiversity knowledge. The biomass and size of Sargassum, as well epibiosis and species composition, varied between beaches and sampling periods, but showed no variation between island faces. Most molluscs occurred in the last sampling period, with higher temperatures, which may be a period of species recruitment. Furthermore, epibiosis proved to be very important for the establishment of associated molluscan species, and contributes to higher diversity. Overall, the collected species are commonly found in Sargassum beds, and were recorded in other studies. Most were small species or juveniles of large and sessile ones, suggesting that Sargassum beds play an important role in the early stages of development of molluscan species. These species may find better living conditions in these environments during their juvenile stages.

Littorina flava is used as bioindicator to measure environmental impacts and to assess the quality of the environment and how it changes over time. The main objective of this work was to determine the reproductive characteristics of L. flava and its relationship with environmental variables and the influence of contaminants in a rocky coast of Mel Island, Paraná, Brazil. Monthly sampling during eight months were performed in the intertidal region during spring low tide in two periods (Winter/Spring and Summer/Fall) in three levels (Upper, Middle and Lower) with three replicates. Monthly 40 individuals of L. flava were collected in the three levels. Environmental parameters (air and water temperature and water salinity) were also obtained. The organisms' height and width were measured, examined for sex identification and gonadal maturation stage. Gonad maturation of L. flava was verified in the end of the first sampling cycle (Winter/Spring). Sexual intercourse behavior was observed in September and October 2010. This reproductive behavior was less observed in the second period (Summer/Fall) together with a decrease in matured gonads. Sexual proportion demonstrated high predominance of males, indicating a possible imposex occurrence due to pollutants verified in the area (fuel from boats, sewer discharge).
