Species richness and abundance of bats in fragments of the stational semidecidual forest, Upper Paraná River, southern Brazil

Abstract: The Upper Paraná River floodplain is inserted in a region of the Mata Atlântica biome, which is a critical area to preserve. Due to the scarcity of researches about the chiropterofauna in this region, the present study investigated species richness and abundance of bats in remnants from the stational semidecidual forest of the Upper Paraná River, southern Brazil. Samplings were taken every month, from January to December 2006, using 32 mist nets with 8.0 × 2.5 m, resulting in 640 m 2 /h and totaling a capture … Show more

“…Myotis nigricans is frequently listed in bat inventories from different regions (e.g. Peracchi and Albuquerque 1993;Teixeira and Peracchi 1996;Dias et al 2002;Uieda and Chaves 2005;Reis et al 2006;Ortêncio-Filho and Reis 2009), although in a low number. On the other hand, M. albescens is scarcely recorded in bat surveys and little is known about its biology.…”

“…No caso do uso de redes de neblina, há uma maior captura de filostomídeos (e.g. Trajano 1984, Pedro & Taddei 1998, Ortêncio-Filho & Reis 2009). Portanto, a elevada representatividade desses morcegos nos parâmetros obtidos no RVSMJ já era esperada, em parte devido o uso de exclusivo desse método de coleta.…”

“…With 24 recorded species, we registered about 42% of the bat species richness known to the State of Paraíba (Feijó & Langguth, 2011;Ferreira, Melo, & Ribeiro, 2013;Nunes, Feijó, Beltrão, Lopez, & Fracasso, 2013;Vilar, Nunes, Nascimento, & Estrela, 2015), and greater richness compared to other works for the Atlantic Forest (Bianconi, Mikich, & Pedro, 2004;Brito & Bocchiglieri, 2012;Moratelli & Peracchi, 2007;Nascimento, Stumpp, & Lessa, 2013;Novaes, Laurindo, Souza, & Gregorin, 2013;Ortêncio-Filho & Reis, 2009;Teixeira & Peracchi, Acta Scientiarum.
