“…The two unusual characteristics of the leeches from genus Helobdella is that they do not feed on blood (Siddall & Borda 2003) and have high level of parental invesment with young being fed by the parent (Sawyer 1986;Govedich & Davies 1998). There are adapted to predation due to its proboscis, which is capable of sucking body fluids and soft parts of its prey (Negrete et al 2007).
