Efeito da temperatura e umidade relativa do ar no desenvolvimento de Liriomyza sativae Blanchard (Diptera: Agromyzidae) em Vigna unguiculata

Abstract: -This research aimed to study the infl uence of temperature and relative-humidity (RH) on the development of Liriomyza sativae Blanchard during the egg-adult period, in cowpea, to provide essential information for future biological control projects against the pest. An inverse relation was observed between temperature increase in the range from 15°C to 32°C and development duration. Larval survival was not affected in the temperature range studied, while a high mortality of pupae was observed at 32°C (59.9%). … Show more

“…This larval survival was higher than the observed by COSTA-LIMA et al (2009) for L. sativae on V. unguiculata (84.8%) and the pupal survival was similar (78.8%). Literature presents a large variation on survival of larvae and pupae of Liriomyza (LEIBEE, 1984;LANZONI et al, 2002).…”

“…Therefore, this is the main pest species in the melon production areas of the Jaguaribe-Açu agricultural region, and corroborates the findings of previous studies (Costa -Lima et al, 2009;Araújo et al, 2013;Ferreira, 2014).…”

“…One of the desirable requirements for a biological control agent is that its life cycle must be shorter than that of its host. The parasitoids studied, O. scabriventris and C. vonones , showed a shorter egg–adult period compared with L. sativae on cowpea plants (16.5 days), i.e., 2.2 and 3.4 fewer days, respectively at 25°C ( Costa-Lima et al. 2009 ).…”
