Abstract: OBJECTIVE To describe the spatial distribution of avoidable hospitalizations due to tuberculosis in the municipality of Ribeirao Preto, SP, Brazil, and to identify spatial and space-time clusters for the risk of occurrence of these events.METHODS This is a descriptive, ecological study that considered the hospitalizations records of the Hospital Information System of residents of Ribeirao Preto, SP, Southeastern Brazil, from 2006 to 2012. “…Several studies have been conducted using spatial and temporal cluster analysis applied to TB control, in countries such as Brazil, 38 China 19 or Spain, 39 and the results are in line with what we observed in our study. That spatial and temporal cluster analysis applied to TB control and elimination can help to estimate periods and geographic areas at risk and provides useful information for the development of health policies.…”

“…21 The epidemiological portrait that is characterized in the Northeast, the region of the country with the highest spatial distribution and the highest incidence rates of the disease, showed the incipience of health services, such as difficulty of access, which leads to late diagnosis and underreporting. 22 It is similar to the concentration of reported cases in the municipalities with the highest indexes to the concentration of the surrounding municipalities, and this fact can be justified by the hypothesis of the presence of similar sociodemographic characteristics, which indicates greater vulnerability to the incidence of TB in the adolescent population.…”

“…It was used to identify areas of risk and protection for CD mortality. For this, the RR for CD mortality was calculated for each municipality, and the presence of purely spatial clusters was identified (Yamamura et al ., 2016).…”
