Washing treatment impact on print quality of screen printed knitted fabrics

Abstract: The surface of textile materials is highly textured, commonly in non-uniform ways. Because of this texture effect, textile surface appears rougher and more porous than other printing substrates, which can cause excessive ink penetration during printing process. Next, washing process is very important factor because it influences ink characteristics on printed samples as well as structural changes of the textile substrate. The aim of this paper is to determine the influences of washing process and different mes… Show more

“…During exploitation, printed textile materials are exposed to various influences such as washing, heating, rubbing, sunlight, etc. (Stančić et al, 2016;Kašiković et al, 2017). The washing process in a laundry machine combines complex effects and involves many factors, such as mechanical action, chemical action, temperature and time, where the chemical action has the most significant effect on soil loosening besides fabric moving, water flow rate and washing time.…”

“…The CIE L*a*b* colour coordinates and spectral reflectance curves are being used for describing colour reproduction. These colour coordinates enable evaluation of colour differences between two samples, or between standard and sample, and obtaining objective data about reproduction quality [25]. It is expressed as a numerical value that corresponds to differences of colour space coordinates (ΔL, Δa, Δb) [7,25].…”
