-The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of genotype by environment interaction (GEI) on the weight of Tabapuã cattle at 240 (W240), 365 (W365) and 450 (W450) days of age. In total, 35,732 records of 8,458 Tabapuã animals which were born in the state of Bahia, Brazil, from 1975to 2001, from 167 sires and 3,707 dams, were used. Two birth seasons were tested as for the environment effect: the dry (D) and rainy (R) ones. The covariance components were obtained by a multiple-trait analysis using Bayesian inference, in which each trait was considered as being different in each season. Covariance components were estimated by software gibbs2f90. As for W240, the model was comprised of contemporary groups and cow age (in classes) as fixed effects; animal and maternal genetic additive, maternal permanent environmental and residual were considered as random effects. Concerning W365 and W450, the model included only the contemporary aged cow groups as fixed effects and the genetic additive and residual effects of the animal as the random ones. The GEI was assessed considering the genetic correlation, in which values below 0.80 indicated the presence of GEI. Regarding W365 and W450, the GEI was found in both seasons. As for post-weaning weight (W240), the effect of such interaction was not observed.

RESUMO. Objetivou-se avaliar os efeitos das interações genótipo-ambiente sobre as estimativas de componentes de (co)variâncias e predição dos valores genéticos para o peso ao desmame de bovinos Nelore, sob enfoque bayesiano. Foram utilizados 16.644 registros de pesos ao desmame de bovinos provenientes de dez rebanhos participantes do Programa Nelore Brasil. Os parâmetros genéticos foram estimados sob modelo animal, considerando a estatística bayesiana. Para verificar o efeito da interação genótipo-ambiente, foram analisados os seguintes modelos matriciais: sem a inclusão dos efeitos de interação genótipo-ambiente; com a inclusão dos efeitos de interação genótipo-ambiente, em que se considerou o efeito de touro-ano, touro-rebanho e ambos os efeitos. De modo geral, verifica-se que a inclusão da interação genótipo-ambiente na análise genética para o peso ao desmame, tende a alterar as estimativas de (co)variâncias genéticas e ambientais. As correlações de Spearman entre os valores genéticos foram acima de 97%, indicando que, praticamente, não houve mudança na classificação dos animais avaliados. Pode se inferir que os efeitos de interação touro-ano e touro-rebanho não alteram as classificações dos animais, e a não-inclusão destes efeitos na avaliação genética, não afetam a seleção baseada nas predições dos valores genéticos para o peso ao desmame.Palavras-chave: crescimento, touro-ano, touro-rebanho, parâmetros genéticos, valor genético.ABSTRACT. Genotype-environment interaction in the genetic analysis for weaning weight in Nelore cattle using bayesian approach. The objective was to evaluate the interactions of genotype-environment effects on the components of (co)variance estimates and the prediction of breeding values for weaning weight in Nelore cattle, using a Bayesian approach. Records of 16,644 weaning weights were used from cattle distributed in ten ranches across six Brazilian states. The genetic parameters were estimated under an animal model considering Bayesian statistics. To verify genotype-environment interaction effects, we analyzed the following matrix model: without the inclusion of genotype-environment interaction effects, and with the inclusion of genotype-environment interaction effects, which considered the effect of sire-year, sire-herd, and both effects. In general, the results suggest that the inclusion of genotype-environment interaction in genetic analysis for weight at weaning tends to alter the estimates of genetic and environment (co)variances. The Spearman correlations between the breeding values were above 97%, indicating practically no change in the classification of animals evaluated. It can be inferred that the interaction effects of sire-year and sire-herd do not change the animals rank, and if not included in the genetic evaluation, the selection based on predictions of breeding values for weaning weight will not be affected.

-It was analyzed the existence of genotype × environment interaction for weaning weight in populations of Angus from Brazil and Uruguay by using records of 73,205 animals (10,257 from Uruguay and 62,948 from Brazil) belonging to 33 and 161 farms and 13 and 34 regions in Uruguay and Brazil, respectively. It was used the one-and two-trait animal model analyses considering weight at weaning of each country as different characters. Coefficients of direct and maternal additivegenetic correlation estimated by two statistical models (including or not bull × country effect) Models included the fixed effects of contemporary group (herd-year and month of birth), sex of the calf, the covariates age of dam at calving (years) and age of calf at weaning (days), and the random effects genetic-additive maternal and direct, maternal permanent environment and residual. Herdabilidades (of direct effect) were similar in both countries and with moderate magnitude (0.35 and 0.15, respectively). Coeficients of correlation among maternal and direct genetic effects between Brazil and Uruguay were 0.77 and 0.13, respectively, and comparison among models (with and without bull × country effect) showed significant differences.
